The Best Of 2013 @ TappingQandA.com

December 29, 2013 by Gene Monterastelli

2013 was the busiest year yet at TappingQandA. Thank you for taking the time to listen, read, tap along, and comment. Here are some of the best of, most commented upon, and some of my personal favorites of the year.

I would love to hear what you liked over the past year!

My Holiday Embarrassment – Last year during the holiday season I learned a valuable lesson about what is important to me and how I can care for others. This is worth a re-read to remind us of what we can do day to day for other.

EFT for Shame – This short tap-along video was the most commented upon post of the year. Shame can be a crippling emotion and this video will help you to find relief.

When EFT Goes Wrong – Sometimes we take healing, EFT, and ourselves a little too seriously. This should give you a chuckle.

FasterEFT – This interview with FasterEFT creator Robert Smith was the most controversial post of the year. Robert has a unique perspective on the healing process with tapping as you can hear in this thought provoking conversation.

Fear Of Rejection In The Age Of Invitation – This conversation with Rick Wilkes was the most downloaded podcast of the year. It is a great look at how we can connect with others in more meaningful ways.

Is It OK To Say ‘Not' While Tapping? – We are repeatedly told not to use negative statements when we are tapping because the subconscious doesn't hear or understand the word ‘not’. I dug into the scientific research to see if this is true and how the word ‘not’ impacts our tapping. The results are surprising.

Everything I Needed To Know About Manifesting I Learned From Good Will Hunting – Personally, I think we have wrecked the word manifesting. It has been used in so many ways by so many people it doesn't mean anything useful anymore. Here is everything I think you need to know about manifesting.

Not Everything That Feels Personal Is Personal – Just because something hurts us in a personal way does not mean it was a personal attack. It is helpful to know the difference between something that is personal and something that feels personal when we are trying to heal.

My Ego Gets In The Way Of My Healing – I learned a valuable lesson this year about my ego and how it hurts the healing processes because of something that happened on Facebook.

2 Surprisingly Different Outcomes From Tapping – There are two types of results that can come from “successful” tapping sessions. This realization changed the way I tapped.

Best Of The Rest:

  • I Don't Always Want You To Be Impressive
  • What If My Results From Tapping Are Nothing More Than The Results Of The Placebo Effect?
  • 3 Things To Keep In Mind Before Every Tapping Session
  • Simple Energy Technique (SEE)

The First Tool I Teach After I Teach The EFT Basics

December 17, 2013 by Gene Monterastelli

Good Morning!

Every day I receive emails from all over the world asking me questions about tapping and how to best use to use it. As I talked about last week (last week's newsletter) I love getting these questions.

To help manage my time better I set aside a couple of hours every few days to answer all the emails at once.

After doing a few client calls on Saturday morning I was doing just that and something strange happened. I sent eleven emails with the exact same link in the email. I hadn't received the same question eleven times, but eleven different tapping questions led me to the same resource.

After you know the basics of tapping this is the most powerful tool I know!

The reason it is the answer to some many different questions is because it is all about relationships.

It can be used when tapping about people close to you, like your immediate family.

It can be used when tapping about people you barely know, like a loan officer or a person at the DMV.

It can be used when tapping about people you will never see again, like passed on relatives.

I really believe this is the most powerful tool in my tapping arsenal!

I recorded a short instructional audio a few years ago explaining the three simple steps to the process.

Learn it now! Listen here:

You Have Been My Greatest Catalyst To Learning AND I Want To Give Back

December 15, 2013 by Gene Monterastelli

Good morning!

Over 6 years ago when I created Tapping Q & A I thought it would be a good idea to build a website around the idea of answering questions. Little did I know how good an idea that would turn out to be.

At least, it was the best choice for me and my learning.

Every time I sit down to write about a topic in response to a question from one of my readers I learn something.

This is has made me a better tapper. I am better at tapping for my own issues and I am better working with my clients.

Thank you for reading, commenting, and asking questions. My life is better because of it.

AND The Questions Keep Getting Better
One of the neat things (my editor doesn't like it when I use the word neat, but that is how it feels) I have noticed over time is that the questions you asking are becoming increasingly sophisticated.

Six years ago more than half the questions I received were some variation on, "What are the right tapping phrases for [insert issue]?" as if there were some magic words to clear a certain issue.

Today the questions are about clearing resistance, the best way to identify and deal with core issues, and the best order in which to deal with issues for optimum results.

It has been a great joy watching the tapping community grow up!

I am sure you are part of this evolution and are looking to be a better tapper, or you wouldn't be reading this.

Getting Even Better At Tapping
Along with the development of the tapping community there has also been a maturing of the training resources available. There are at least 3 international organizations offering certification and it seems that every practitioner under the sun has created some "new" version of tapping they are teaching.

It is really hard to know which way to turn to expand your tapping tool set.

If you are looking to learn new tapping skills I have something for you to consider.

A Great Big Fat Marketing Mistake
I have put together what I believe are the best of the best tapping tools in what I think is the easiest way to learn them. This is probably a mistake, but I haven't come up with a fancy name.

If I were a better marketer I would call it something like SuperTapping, Exceptional EFT, The Monterastelli Method, or The Best Gosh Darn EFT Method That Will Make You Rich And Beautiful Beyond Your Wildest Dreams (AKA BGDEMTWMYRBBYWD Method).

To be honest the only name I considered was "Kick-*** Tapping Techniques" but I was worried I might offend.

Coming up with names for things isn't my strength. Look how creative I got with my website name. I created a site that answers questions about tapping and called it TappingQandA.com.

What is lacking in name is made up in what I think is some of the best tapping training available.

I have taken my favorite tools, broken them down into simple steps, and presented them in such a way that you can start them today!

Over the last 7 years I have been slowly building my own tool set. I have consumed books, DVDs, and attended live trainings.

I have studied NLP, hypnosis, age regression, parts work, neurological function, and guided imagery. I have spent hours with psychologists, doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and psychiatrists picking their brains about what they have learned in their work.

I have spent hundreds of hours and well over $15,000 on building my tool set.

And I want to share that tool set with you.

What Is Taught?
I like presenting things in digestible chunks so that you can take what you learn and start using it right away. The class is organized into 8 lessons.

  • Lesson 1 — 13 Foundations to Healing With Tapping That Every Practitioner Should Master
  • Lesson 2 — 18 Lessons From 10 Masters Of Healing
  • Lesson 3 — Hypnotic Patter And Language
  • Lesson 4 — Guided Imagery
  • Lesson 5 — Parts Work
  • Lesson 6 — Age Regression
  • Lesson 7 — Time Lines, Forgiveness Work, and Scoreboards Oh My!
  • Lesson 8 — Meta Models

(For a full description of each lesson please see the end of this note.)

Each of these lessons is designed to stand alone. You can start with any topic you want. I love this training because you don't have to complete it all to improve what you doing. Each step of the way you will be able to do new things with your tapping.

The moment you complete any of the audios you will be ready to try the techniques.

But That's Not All
In addition to the training audios I have these 4 bonuses to sweeten the deal:

Transcripts Of All Classes
Not everyone learns in the same way and sometimes it is easier to read through materials to find that one point you were looking for instead of searching through an audio file. This is over 150 pages of content!

Two Bonus Hours Of Teaching (plus transcripts)
Since the original recording of the training I have added two more hours of advanced tools. The hour on "Making sure you are solving the right problem" has revolutionized the way I do tapping work.

Audios Of Four Sessions
Want to hear exactly how I use these tools with my clients? You will receive four audio sessions of me working with real clients. There are two audios for each session. Audio one is an uninterrupted version of the session so you can get the flow. Audio two is interrupted from time to time with me explaining what I was thinking and why I did what I did every step of the way.

PowerPoint From All Presentations
All eight lessons were originally taught live using PowerPoint. You will receive copies of all PowerPoint slides so you can follow along.

Being Bad At Marketing With More Mumbo Jumbo
This is the part in the note where I am supposed to tell you how much all the bonuses are worth so you see the value in what you are buying. You will receive all the PowerPoint slides, all the transcripts, four client sessions where you see the tools in action, and two bonus hours of training.

I know these bonus materials are worth as much (if not more) than the price of the training program itself. I could tell you exactly what I would charge for each of these pieces. You might believe me, or you might think it is some marketing trick.

I know this for certain: this is A LOT of added value and it will transform the way you tap with yourself and the way you tap with clients.

Super-Duper Special Deal
When I first released this training program I offered it for $797. If you are careful reader of my newsletter from time to time you could have bought the program for $495.

For the next two weeks I want to try something different because I want you to better at tapping AND I want you to experience the Ruach Center.

If you don't know, the Ruach Center is a membership website I run that is built to help you use tapping to conquer self-sabotage in your life. Right now there are over 125 resources on the site and every month at least 12 new resources are added, plus two new teleclasses.

At present a year's membership to the Ruach Center costs $179.

I am going to combine the best training I can offer with access to regular tapping support that will help you take action every day.

You have three options:

Option #1: Personal Attention
With this option you will receive the Advanced Tapping Training, one full year's access to the Ruach Center, and 4 one-on-one sessions with me. You can use these sessions to ask questions about the training or to tap on the issue you are trying to clear. If you purchased these separately it would cost $1,401.

You can get this option for $699. Yes, that is 50% off.
(Please note I can only offer this to 8 people because I want to make sure there is room in my client schedule to meet your needs.)

Option #2: Self-Directed Learning
With this option you will get the Advanced Tapping Training and one full year's access to the Ruach Center. If you purchased these separately it would cost $676.

You can get this option for $299. That is a 56% discount!

Option #3: Access To The Ruach Center For One Year
With this option you will get access to the Ruach Center for one year.

You can get access for one year for $179.

Full Descriptions Of Audio/Video Content

Lesson 1 — 12 Foundations To Healing With Tapping That Every Practitioner Should Master.
In over two hours of audio and videos we will cover:
Tapping: Not the basic recipe as a formula, but a comprehensive way of seeing tapping protocols

  • Everything We Experience Is Internal. Everything We Experience Is Interpretation
  • The Three Minds
  • Models Of Information
  • The Client As An Eye Witness To Their Own Life (Conference Room Of The Mind)
  • Everything Exists To Serve Us, AKA: The Power Of Thanksgiving
  • Resistance To Change
  • Pain Vs. Suffering
  • Stages Of Awareness
  • Inspired Action Vs. Inspired Outcome
  • Desire Without Emotional Attachment

Lesson 2 — 18 Lessons From 10 Masters Of Healing
There is much to be learned from the great teachers and masters in many different healing fields. We can learn from their teachings, how they learned themselves, and how they work with clients. In this section we will look at 18 different lessons from giants in the healing fields that have transformed the way I work. If you master even a handful of these lessons, it will transform your work.

Lesson 3 — Hypnotic Patter And Language
The lessons I have learned from hypnosis have affected not only the way I talk to and communicate with my clients, but every interaction that I have during the day. There are two main skills we can learn from hypnosis: building rapport and navigation/guidance.

RAPPORT: If we are NOT able to build rapport and gain the trust of our clients then it will be very difficult for us to work together. In this lesson we will explore the way a hypnotist uses language before, while inducing, and during a trance. We don't have to hypnotize our clients to use these tools to help us to create a relationship of trust as well as more easily guiding our clients to finding their root issues. Because of the nature of hypnosis this rapport is essential and, knowing this, a good hypnotist is working on building rapport even before they speak with the client the first time. There is much tappers can learn from this approach.

NAVIGATION/GUIDANCE: In fact all hypnosis is nothing more than self-hypnosis. A hypnotist is nothing more than a navigator. They are providing instruction and guidance as the client works their way to root causes and transformation. We can learn a lot from this strategy when helping our tapping clients. Not only will this help us to get out of our clients' way, but also we can learn how better to help clients transform.

Lesson 4 — Guided Imagery
Most of the emotional work we do with clients is done in the subconscious mind. (Note: A comprehensive video lesson on the unconscious, subconscious, and conscious minds is part of the pre-class work.) We can't directly access the subconscious mind to change it (and this is a good thing) so using guided imagery is a gentle and powerful way to create transformation at the subconscious level. In this lesson you will learn the seven steps I use in guided imagery that allow the client's subconscious to lead us to the root of the issue, plus the concept of "fairytale physics" which will unlock your client's creativity.

Lesson 5 — Parts Work
There is no tool that I use more than parts work. Over 90% of the sessions I do use some form of parts work. When we help a client approach their issues through the lens of a part we are able to help them to focus in on a small part of something that is much too big to deal with at once AND we are able to discover the solutions to the problem that the system already has. This is the most powerful tool I have in my tool kit. In this lesson you will learn the many different types of parts work (including parts mediation), how to gently guide the client to find their way to root causes, and how to empower clients to use these tools and resources after the session so that their healing can continue.

Lesson 6 — Age Regression
Age regression is a very specific type of parts work, so I devote a complete lesson to it. In age regression we are working with the younger version of the client. (Anytime we are thinking of a past memory it is a version of age regression.) In this lesson we will not only look at what age regression is, but we will look at how we can easily bridge back into the past to find the root of an issue, determine if we have worked back to the earliest memory, and how to heal/transform once we are in contact with these earlier parts.

Lesson 7 — Time Lines, Forgiveness Work, And Score Boards Oh My!
In this lesson I cover three of my favorite tools in my tapping arsenal. I never plan to use these tools, but there are times when working with clients that it will become obvious that one of these three tools will help a client much quicker than just tapping on the thought or emotion they are feeling. These tools are simple to use, each with an uncomplicated step-by-step formula.

Lesson 8 — Meta Models
It is amazing how inaccurate our language is when we are describing what is going on in our lives. "Everyone at works hates me!" "I am never going to get ahead!" "I just can't do it!" There might be a kernel of truth in these statements, but they are not true. The problem comes when we approach the world as if they are true. Meta Models is a set of tools that helps us to recognize the logical fallacies in our thoughts and words that are affecting our actions and choices. In this part we will explore the 10 most common meta models, ways of helping our clients to see the flaws, and strategies to help clients transform these beliefs. In the practical part of this lesson participants will get the chance to work through real client case histories to practice identifying and reframing these meta models.

What If Results From EFT Are Nothing More Than The Placebo Effect?

November 19, 2013 by Gene Monterastelli

The old joke goes something like this:

Dave is complaining of headaches. After a full examination his doctor can find nothing wrong with him but Dave insists that his doctor prescribe him something. Wanting to get Dave out of his office the doctor prescribes him harmless and useless sugar pills. Dave leaves the doctor’s office happy that he has something for the pain.

A week later Dave calls his doctor to report that he has been pain free since taking the pills twice a day. The doctor says, “Dave, you need to understand that I didn't prescribe you anything other than sugar pills. The pills did nothing for your pain. It was a placebo.”

Dave listens for a moment and replies, “That's great doc! I have a really busy week ahead of me and I was hoping you would prescribe me another bottle of those placebos.”

I am asked all the time if I think that tapping isn't really doing anything and that the results that we get from tapping are just due to the placebo effect.

This is an interesting question, but I don't think it is the most important question.

For me the most important question when doing work is, “How is it working for you?” If it is a useful tool: Use it! If it isn’t useful, try something else.

I don’t understand how many of the things that I find useful in my life work. For example, I am typing these words on a small piece of plastic and circuitry. It’s not even connected by a cord to a power source but somehow my thoughts make it to wherever you are in the world. I can't explain how, but it works, and that is enough for me.

With that being said, it is important to pay attention to all the consequences of what we are doing. Eating ice cream works in that it makes me feel better in the moment, but if I used it habitually as a tool to deal with my emotions there would be less than desirable consequences.

I don't really understand what is happening when we tap. I have some ideas, but I can't say for sure.

With that being said, this is the calculation that I do: When I use tapping it is very beneficial in my life. Other than the occasional pimple because I didn't wash my hands before tapping, I can't see it causing any short or long term harm in my life, therefore I am going to continue to use it.

It works for me. I am always trying to learn more. I would love to know exactly what is going on because I am sure that would make me more effective as a tapper.

In the short term the fact that it works for me is enough.

I would love to hear your thoughts on EFT and the placebo effect in the comment box below.
