Often we treat our body as if it’s the enemy and working our way to health as a battle. We turn on ourselves by feeling betrayed, hopeless, and frustrated by our body. Amazing though it sounds, our body is in this state because the system either believes that we can get no healthier, or that being in our current state will keep us safe. Once we recognize that we are our body and that it is trying to function in a way that it thinks is best, it becomes easier to work with our body towards better health and well being.
I was working with a client on returning to working towards a healthier body after backsliding (again). After a great session he asked if we could do some work on helping him to believe progress was possible and to reconnect with his body.
When we had finished he said, “You should write that down so others can use it.” When I told him that I could share the recording if I had his permission he insisted I did, so here it is:
