She threatened me with karma (AKA why Tapping Q and A exists)

January 20, 2020 by Gene Monterastelli

Back in the first week of January I sent you an email telling you about the first podcast of the year. As a PS I mentioned that because it was my birthday I was offering a deal on one-on-one tapping sessions.

Every week people join my mailing list and people leave my mailing list. During the unsubscribe process my mailing list software offers the opportunity to submit feedback and let me know why you are unsubscribing.

Most people don't write anything, but from time to time there is useful feedback, which I appreciate.

After making the birthday offer this is the note that someone wrote as they unsubscribed:

I can't see how anyone can justify charging for tapping. I can get the same results from youtube videos. I hate that there are such greedy people in this world capitalizing off the sadness and sorrows of vulnerable people. Karma is all I can say.

In looking through my records I realized that I haven't sent an email explaining why TappingQandA.com exists since 2015 (which feels like a lifetime ago).

Prompted by that comment, I think it is a good idea to make sure that we are on the same page.

There are three reasons why I run the website, record podcasts, create videos, and send you emails just like this one.

Reason #1: To Provide Good, Useful Content
My hope is that every time I add a resource to TappingQ&A, you will find it helpful. That it will help you understand your issues in a new way and help you to grow your tapping skill set. I know that not everything I create will be useful for everyone on my list.

My aim is to listen to you, my readers, so that I am covering the topics that are most useful. If there is a topic that I haven't yet covered that you would find helpful, just reply to this message and let me know.

Reason #2: I Learn In The Creative Process
Running the website has been an amazing learning experience for me. I have had the chance to interview some of the brightest minds in change work and there have been countless occasions when I have written a post and then thought, “Wow! I didn't realize I believed that.”

Having to think about what serves you every week helps me to learn more and grow. I am so much healthier and happier because of this website. It means the world to me that you read, listen, and watch what I have created. AND at the exact same time I wonder if I am learning more than you.

Reason #3: To Grow My Business
Yes, this is in fact a business and my livelihood. The only way I am able to create so much free content for the site is because I also earn money from selling products and services. Most weeks I spend over five hours working on the free content I offer and that wouldn't be possible if this were just my hobby.

The nice thing about the way I have built my business is that its viability depends upon only a very small percentage of my readers. In most cases when I offer something for sale fewer than 1% of my readers buy it.

That means the odds are that you have never bought anything from me AND that is perfectly fine.

I hope at some point in the future you find an offering that works for you. Until that happens, keep enjoying the free content.

More great stuff is coming
I have no plans to stop. I will keep creating free articles, podcasts, and videos. If 2020 goes according to plan, by the end of the calendar year there will be over 1000 free resources on the website.

The good thing is you can control whether or not you hear from me. If at any point you no longer want to receive these emails because they are not serving you, all you have to do is click unsubscribe at the top or bottom of the email.

You will never receive another message from me again.

I don't want to send you emails unless you want to receive them. I am actually happy when people unsubscribe because it means they are controlling their time and what is coming into their inbox.

Thanks for being a reader
It is amazing to think that all of this started from a free blog I hosted in my spare time! I have learned so much from my clients and readers and gained many friends along the way. My life is so much better because TappingQ&A exists.

Please continue to let me know how I can keep serving you in the future. As I mentioned above, the easiest way to reach me is to hit reply to a note like this one.

Blessings,

Gene

PS: I have extended the birthday offer through the end of January. You can get a one-on-one sessions with me for over 40% if you use the coupon code “birthday” at checkout. You can purchase time with me here: http://tappingqanda.com/one-on-one

Best of 2019

January 11, 2020 by Gene Monterastelli

When I am planning the free resources for TappingQandA.com I take a number of factors into consideration. I receive feedback and requests from readers like you, common topics come up over and over again in my sessions with clients, and I look at past performance.

I am not one to obsess over download stats, but every few weeks I check in to see how the show is doing.

As I was looking back on 2019 and looking forward to 2020, I thought I would share with you some of the best of the best from the past year.

You might have missed these free resources when they came out the first time OR they weren't right for you when they first came out, but might be exactly what you need right now.

If you are only going to listen to one:
The Grounding Process – This is my favorite tapping tool ever. As I was compiling this list, I committed to doing this grounding process every night before I go to bed for the next 10 days.

My favorite tool:
Tapping To Music From Your Teen Years – Music is a powerful force anchoring us to our past. Here is a simple way to use music from your teen years to clear up any emotional baggage you are carrying from that time.

My favorite interview:
How to tell if you are making progress with Tapping w/ Mary Ayers – Of all the interviews I did last year, I learned the most from this one. I now use the way Mary talks about measuring progress with my own clients all the time.

Most commented upon:
What My Reaction To Others Says About Me – The most recent comment on this podcast was “Your best podcast, Gene. More, please.” I think this one struck a chord because it was so personal.

Most downloaded:

  • EFT for Anxiety and Worry w/ Julie Schiffman
  • Intention Based Tapping w/ Steve Wells
  • How You See Yourself Can Stop Your Healing w/ Brad Yates
  • The Science Behind Tapping w/ Dr. Peta Stapleton
  • EFT for Long-Term Transformation w/ Rick Hanson, Ph.D.

Most Downloaded from the archive:

  • Letting Go of Limiting and Unhelpful Beliefs
  • All About The Tapping Points w/ Beth Kearn
  • Tapping for Self-Criticism

As I stated above, I take reader and listener recommendations seriously. Some of the best episodes ever came from those recommendations. Please let me know who you would like me to interview and what topics you would like me to cover. All you need to do is reply to this note.

Just as a reminder. You can subscribe to the Tapping Q and A Podcast in a number of ways. It is – and will remain – completely free of charge. This isn't like a Netflix subscription.

Thanks for listening,

Gene

10-Year Anniversary

March 4, 2019 by Gene Monterastelli

This post is a little different than the usual one you get from me. I am going to do three things. I am going to celebrate, I am going to share a useful challenge with you, and I am going to ask you for help.

#1 Celebration!
Sunday March 3rd marked the 10-year anniversary of the Tapping Q and A Podcast!!!!

When I started the podcast all I had was a $19 microphone and a doohickey that I bought from RadioShack (remember them?), which allowed me to connect my landline (remember them?!) to my computer so that I could record telephone interviews.

I had no idea what I was doing, but I thought it would be fun.

I certainly didn't think I would still be doing it 10 years later!

In that time, between interviews, instruction, tap-alongs, and bonus episodes, I have recorded over 400 hundred episodes.

That is more than 168 hours of free content! (As in, it would take you seven straight days without sleeping to listen to all of the podcasts.)

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For your willingness to listen, to tap along, and to share with other people.

The podcast has been downloaded by people in over 160 countries and more than 1.75 million episodes have been downloaded. (The number is actually closer to 2 million, but because stats weren't tracked in the early years of the show I don't know the exact number for sure.)

#2 Go Learn Something
Even if you have been with me from the very beginning and even if you have listened to every minute of the podcast, there is still so much we can learn from those past interviews.

Think of it like an old book you love or your favorite movie. Even though you have read or watched it before, there's something new for you each time you go back.

The podcasts are no different. There will be something useful when you hear it again – and it might even feel like you are hearing again for the first time.

My challenge to you is to pick seven podcasts from the archive and listen to one each day for the next week. It's a simple commitment to yourself that will pay huge dividends. (I would also love to hear which seven you chose.)

The whole archive is waiting for you, free of charge, at http://TappingPodcast.com

#3 Help me out!
The podcast is a labor of love.

They don't just magically appear on the website or in your podcast app of choice. There is scripting, reaching out to guests, recording interviews, editing interviews, writing show notes, writing these emails, making the graphics for social media, and creating the final version of the show.

On average I spend about four hours on every episode of the podcast. Assuming a 40-hour work week, that means I have spent over 10 months working solely on the podcast. (And that doesn't take into account all the time I have spent learning how to do the podcast and my continuing education to make them better.)

I love doing it. I love the fact you listen. AND I need your help.

There are two ways in which you can support the podcast.

First, tell a friend about the podcast. Well actually, I want to you tell three friends. The marketing budget for the podcast is word of mouth and the most common way new people find their way to it is via a recommendation from a friend.

Think of three people you think would benefit from the podcast. Send them an email, show them how to listen to a podcast, or you might even help them by showing them how to subscribe on their phone the next time you see them.

When people join my email list, I ask them how they found me. My favorite response is always “A friend told me about your podcast.” Those emails warm my heart.

Please help to warm my heart some more and tell a friend about the podcast!

My goal in the next year is to double the number of listeners to the podcast. This isn't for the pure vanity of doubling my downloads. I believe in my heart of hearts the more people who tap regularly, the healthier the world will be for all of us. This is a small way in which you can help that to happen.

Second, support the podcast. In addition to my time, there are actual costs for producing the podcast. I pay for the hostings, software to edit and make it sound good, and my editor who makes sure all the emails and show notes look good.

There are two ways you can give your support:

  • You can become a monthly supporter of the podcast. For as little as $5 a month you get access to a bunch of bonus content, including extra podcasts every month only for supports. You can join here: http://tappingqanda.com/support
  • You can make a one-time contribution of any amount https://tappingqanda.com/tip/

The podcast is set up on an interesting business model. Everyone gets free access and then if you think it is valuable, you can give your financial support. It is a risk on my part, putting in the work without any support up front.

Not everyone is in the possion to support the podcast financially, but if you are, I would encourage you to do so. Not because you get bonus content (which is nice), but because it is something you value.

By investing in the podcast you are letting me know you value it AND you are making a statement to yourself that you value your personal growth through the podcast.

There are a number of ways I am hoping to grow the podcast in the future (including transcriptions of all the interviews, including the archives), but I won't be able to do that without your support.

Thank you!
Once again, thank you for continuing to support the podcast. I hope you keep listening, learning, and tapping along.

Here is to another 10 years!

11 years ago this week (special deal)

August 3, 2018 by Gene Monterastelli

Eleven years ago this week Tapping Q & A was born! (I wrote the first article July 29th, 2007 and shared it with the world August 1st.)

It is hard to believe that something that started as a hobby in my free time has turned into a website that has had millions of page views and a podcast that's been downloaded over a million times by people in over 160 countries!

It means sooooooo much to me that you take the time to read, listen, comment, give feedback, and share the Tapping Q & A resources with your loved ones.

As a thank you, I am offering these two special special deals:

1) One-on-one sessions with me: Normally I charge $225 per 1-hour session, but this week you can get then for $110. (Maximum of 5 sessions per person, must be used by December 31st, 2018.)

Get time with me: Sessions w/ Gene

2) 10 Questions System: This is my favorite tool for figuring out the steps and the emotional blocks that are standing in the way of you taking action. Normally it costs $197. This week you can save $110 and only pay $87.

Get out of your own way: 10 Question System

Thanks again for your part in the amazing experience this has been for me. I had no idea how this would turn out when I started and it's so far beyond my wildest dreams that I can't even process it!

As always, please let me know how I can be helpful to you in your tapping journey.

Blessings,

Gene
