Video: How To Tap For A Memory That Is Still Affecting You Today

March 24, 2013 by Gene Monterastelli

Until recently, every time someone made a particular hand gesture I would experience a jab of negative emotion. Once I figured out the root of the pain, a painful moment when someone else had used this same motion, I was able to tap for it.

Here is a short video of me tapping for this issue for the very first time where you can see the process unfolding step by step. I would love to hear your thoughts on this process in the comments.

Thanks Gene, An interesting thing happened when I was watching that video. Last night I had a conversation about moving. As a result, I was feel extremely depressed this morning. There wasn’t inter-personal ‘stuff ‘ going on, so I didn’t think the video would ‘apply’ to me, but as I watched and tapped along, I had in my mind how I was feeling and just kept repeating silently “this moving thing”. During the video I could feel a definite shift in how I was feeling, and I am now feeling astonishingly better ! ! Just wanted to let you know that. :-) Thank you for all the great, helpful information that you provide for people.

Thank you for your courage in sharing this experience. It shows self-awareness, compassion, curiosity and determination to show up authentically–whether with your friend or with ALL of your followers.
Your phrase about your friend’s dismissive gesture just being part of something in that moment was reassuring to me–a good reminder that things change and can be worked out for the best.

    Thanks Gene,
Great job! I wonder how would the world be like if we all did tapping in situations like yours.

    Much love and keep tapping!
