After podcast #7 (Sensitive Temperaments) I was inundated with requests. Lots of readers and clients said something to the effect of, “Rue was talking about me. I never knew what was going on. Now that I know this is who I am, what do I do about it?”
In this episode I go through five of my favorite ways of dealing with the emotions of others that sensitive temperaments feel so deeply.
We’ll explore what surrogate tapping is and a couple of the current theories on why it can be so effective, as well as how surrogate tapping can be beneficial for us even when we think we are doing work for someone else’s issues. Finally we talk about a very simple way you can add surrogate tapping to your tapping tool set.

I just wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful information/tools – I’ve been looking for this kind of info for a long time as i tend to unconsciously absorb other people’s “stuff” (as i mentioned in my comments on your podcast about Carrying Burdens for Others and Generational work – beyond awesome); as an fledgling energy healing/EFT practitioner, it’s become a serious occupational hazard and made me consider dropping it altogether. A mentor/friend in energy work never had much in the way of “protective” tools other than to cross my legs during sessions – which I always try to practice but sometimes forget and other times it’s not practical; regardless, I still end up carrying other’s “baggage.” I recently heard of the “zipping your field” tool, which i’ve been implementing, but you offer even more options – i need all i can get! Another practitioner friend just suggested grounding before and after as well whether literally (standing outside and discharging it into the ground) and/or via visualization. Adds the challenge of time (a 90 minute session becomes 2 hours to allow for 15-pre and 15-after!), but ultimately hopefully will be worth it for the greater time it saves (like, every waking moment it seems sometimes!). So, once again, THANK YOU. I am so loving and appreciating this site and the abundance of resources!!!!!!! THANK YOU!
