I have been tapping for almost twenty years. From the very beginning, I struggled with the set-up phrase from Gary Craig’s EFT basic recipe.
Gary encouraged us to start every round of tapping by tapping on the side of our hands, while saying “Even though I have this issue, I deeply and completely accept myself”. As EFT gained popularity, the phrase evolved into “Even though I have this issue, I deeply and completely love and accept myself” for many tappers.
My issue has never been with the idea behind the phrase. I love the healing principle of acceptance and how it is a useful tool in transformation.
My struggle has been with its placement in the healing process.
As valuable as acceptance is, it can be emotionally difficult to start with the idea of accepting yourself, especially when you are in emotional distress.
All these years on, I have clarity about my struggle with the phrase and why it didn’t work for me.
This week in the podcast, I explore what I have learned about my own healing journey and its relationship to the set-up phrase.
It doesn’t matter if you love or hate the set-up phrase, this conversation will allow you to make acceptance during healing something that is easy to achieve.
