“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” – Pablo Picasso
Trying new things can be hard. It requires us to put ourselves at risk. It requires up to face the fact that we don’t know everything. We know intellectually that there are many things we have tried in the past that we didn’t know how to do. Some of them worked out right away while others took time for us to learn. When we recognize that it is okay for us to try new things and that it is okay to not be perfect during the learning process it makes it easier for us to try new and different things.

There are many reasons we want to make changes in our life. Often, the greater the perceived reward the greater the motivation we have. Many times there’s more than one reason for making a change. Understanding these reasons can be key to our transformation.

I know that I need to spend time tapping on my issues, but I can’t seem to get myself to do it. After the fact (of not tapping) I feel a lot worse because I haven’t done the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)/tapping that I know works. Is there any way I can get over my block about sitting down to tap?
One of the biggest road blocks for beginning tappers is using the set up phrase “Even though…I love and accept myself.” Sometimes we don’t believe it. Sometimes it is painful to think of how we don’t love and accept ourselves. Because of this we won’t spend time tapping.
Often we are ourselves the biggest obstacle to our success. We hold beliefs that prevent us from trying, that prevent us from recognizing the opportunities we have to move forward. “Brian” was in a situation where he wanted to move forward with his business. He came up with a number of brilliant ideas to move his business ahead, but when push came to shove he wouldn’t take the steps he needed to take to move forward.

Gene Monterastelli is a Baltimore based EFT practitioner who in addition to work with clients and groups regularly writes and records about how to use the tapping protocols to regain control of your health and well-being.
