It is absolutely brilliant. The technique is simple and elegant. As she was describing it I could see immediately how this could fit into my practice.

This is what I believe about the healing process. This is not about tapping the tool, but what happens when we heal and transform. This is how I think when I am working with clients.

What You Will Learn In "Recovering Self - A Healing Manifesto":

Why you stop the healing process even when you know the steps you should take

Why others don't want you to heal

The two categories that all healing falls into

What you need to know (and what you don't need to know) to heal

How to stop fighting yourself and start healing

Many of the practitioners I know are very spiritual people, but for one reason or another they are not connected to a particular denomination or faith tradition. My friend Jake Khym is a different in that regard. He explicitly does Christian counseling.

In this conversation we talk about how and why he transitioned from traditional counseling to Christian counseling and how his work now looks different. Also, we spend a great deal of time talking about what it means to provide instruction and teaching in a discipleship relationship vs. what a therapist would normally do.

Even if you are not Christian you are going to find this to be a fascinating conversation. Jake is one of the brights and most articulate people I know. His insights in to how people transform and what people are longing for are insightful and will help you with your healing journey regardless how you approach spiritually, faith, or religion.

I have taken my favorite advanced tapping techniques and I have put them all in once place. The program has over 10 hours of training and over 15 hours of support audio.

Here is a brief list of the main topic:

Lesson 1: 13 Foundations to Healing With Tapping That Every Practitioner Should Master
Lesson 2: 18 Lessons From 10 Masters of Healing
Lesson 3: Hypnotic Patter and Language
Lesson 4: Guided Imagery
Lesson 5: Parts Work
Lesson 6: Age Regression
Lesson 7: Time Lines, Forgiveness Work, and Score Boards Oh My!
Lesson 8: Meta Models

And that doesn't even inclue any of the bonus material. If you are looking to take your tapping to the next level I would encourage you to check this out.

I want them to be able to continue to move forward on their. There are two tools that I teach the most because I think they are 1) very easy to do. 2) very versatile and 3) very powerful. (I will share the other tool in a future podcast.)

The tool "About, To, and As If" is a great way to deal with emotions around any relationship. The tool can be used for close friends and family or with people you have never met before. It can be used for people you have a contentious relationship with and it can be used with people who you want a better life for. You can do the whole tool in three minutes. or use it for a full hour.

Let's be honest: Tapping/EFT looks weird when you do it, sounds weird when you explain it, and really is just plain weird. At least once a week as I explaining the work I do and how much I love tapping someone will start to look at me like I have three heads and slowly start creeping away.

In any endeavor that we do it is important to have a community of support around us. In these communities we have the opportunity to learn from each other, support each other, and (most importantly) laugh with each other.

In the Baltimore area (which is where I live) Steve Carter has done an amazing job in creating just this type of community. The community he has created is from everyone from full time practitioners to people who are just interested in finding way the live health and happier lives. It started very small and over the last few years has not only grown in numbers, but it has also in the quality of support the community provides.

I realize that probably the main reason is that one cannot get him/herself out of the way, as personal feelings/emotions energetically block EFT action. Could you please comment on specific methods of working with loved ones?

Over the course of the conversation we talk about how to do a do interview and how to do a good job when being interviewed.
Gene, I always read your materials with interest and would appreciate your comment concerning energy protection. I have two questions.

First, I understand, before a practitioner starts treating clients he/she can create a protective energy layer around himself. How does this affect a practitioner as they connect with a client to muscle test or tune into what the client is experiencing? Won't this type of protection prevent the practitioner from doing their work?

Second, I understand one can "cut he cord" of energy between a practitioner and client, to stop the energy from flowing between them after the treatment. What about the energies that the practitioner has already "caught" over the course of the session?

I think the way we end a tapping session is just as important as the way we begin it. For me the end of the session is more than a signing off process, but it is the next step in healing. When we tap it is not a healing moment, but instead part of a healing process that is going to continue through out the day and through out our life.

I like to spend time at the end of a session (especially an emotional one) setting up the system to continue the work thought the day. The end of my sessions often looks like this:

Giving stuff a way for free can be a tricky thing to do as a practitioner. On one hand it feels like a good idea because we are exposing potential clients to our products and services. On the other hand we can worry that if we give too much away potential clients are only going to take the free things and never buy.

Giving products and services away for free is a very key part of my business and marketing plan, but it needs to be more than "give it away and hope." Every time we are giving something away for free (products, services, or our time) we need to be doing for a very specific reason. We need to be giving away for free with a plan.

There is a real feeling of "try it on everything" in the Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT)/tapping community, but as we move from helping our friends with head aches and craving for chocolate on to working with clients we need more than just a willing spirit.
Most of us who have private practices or what private practices want to spend time helping our clients. We don't want to spend time marketing. Not because we don't think marketing is important, but because we aren't very good at it or even worse it is scary. In this podcast I talk to Pamela Bruner and we discover that not only do you need to be marketing for your own sake, but for your clients sake. We talk about the unique challenges that transformational entrepreneurs have in marketing their products and services. This is a must listen to if you have a practice or would one day like one

She is interested in EFT, but says that she is only willing to give her issue two sessions, maybe three, tops, since she has been in therapy for years. She says she doesn’t want to start any long-term therapy. I saw her this last Friday for the first time, and we only talked (and when I say “we” talked I mean she only talked).
