Tap Like Donald Trump: 5 Ways To Love Yourself

There is no question that Donald Trump’s public persona is one in which he thinks a great deal of about himself. I don’t think it is a bad thing.

Sometimes I wonder if he is over-compensating for something else by talking such a big game about himself and his success. More than likely that is just my own insecurities being projected ontohis braggadociosness.

When it comes to seeking out teachers and role models for healing, growth, and self love Donald Trump probably isn’t in the first six hundred thousand names that would come to mind. Regardless what you think of “The Donald” he reminds us of some great lessons that we can learn about loving ourselves. Here are few of my favorites.

Pod 72: Strengthening Romantic Relationships with Tapping/EFT w/ Alina Frank

Our romantic relationships take up a great deal of our time and energy. They can bring us great joy and great frustration (and even both at that exact same time). Even though each relationship is a new and different experience we can find ourselves falling in to the same patterns. Some patterns repeat themselves from relationship to relationship. Other patterns keep repeating themselves over and over again inside of the current relationship.

In this interview with Alina Frank we talk about how we can identify these patters and how they were created. We also spend time looking at how we can use tapping/EFT to clear the negative patterns in our current relationships and clear the patterns of having the same type of negative relationship experience again and again.

TapAlong #25A: Please See How Much I Am Putting Myself Last!

Sometimes we can spend so much time and energy taking care of others that we can lose ourselves in the effort. When can get to the place where our identity gets wrapped up in taking care of others. This can be a dangerous way to define ourselves. Here is a short tap along audio to help you see yourself for who you are, not for what you do for others.

TapAlong #24A: Worthy Of Love

One of the hardest phrases for my clients to say is, “I love and accept myself.” (And it can be really hard from me sometimes as well.) There is a feeling of skin crawling that goes along with that phrase. Being able to love our selves is at the heart of healing and transformation. When we love ourselves we are able to be easy with our selves and be easy with the process of healing.

Tap Along #23A: You Are Worth A Better/Easier Life

Often times we don’t feel comfortable making our own life easier. We think: Others have it so hard. We should have to work for a good life. It is only worth something if we struggle for it. I have wasted good chances before I would I get easy now?

When we are able to recognize that we are worthy of a better life then we can move to a place where we can start working towards a better life. As long as we think it is something we are not worthy of then we are never going to move forward.

TapAlong #22A: Unconditional Love

It is fun to watch people intact with a new born. Once they get over their fear of dropping the child everyone just lights up. For some reason we are able to see the goodness in the innocents of the child and we can offer unconditional love very easily.

The idea for this TapAlong can to me while I was doing an interview Brad Yates. Right after I idea hit me I shared it with Brad and he said that he had done the exact thing with his clients before. Here is a great little TapAlong that I hope will help you to experience unconditional love.

Deserve v. Worthy

One of the phrases I hear frequently from clients is “I don’t deserve…” When we believe we don’t deserve something then we are going to prevent ourselves from getting it. It doesn’t matter if it is a better job, a loving relationship, or better health. If we don’t feel we deserve it then we aren’t going to move forward. In this reflection we look at how changing the way we understand the word “deserve” can change the way we heal.

TapAlong #5A: Being Able To Love Unconditionally

We are told (and may even believe) that we need to love people unconditionally. This can be a really hard thing because the people in our lives are flawed (just like we are). They make poor choices and they sometimes hurt us. Unconditional love does not mean that we approve of others’ choices and it doesn’t mean we have to take whatever they give us. Unconditional love is about recognizing the worth and value of others. When we do this we are able to make the choice we want to make in creating ourselves to be who we want to be. (And yes . . . this is hard!)

Pod #63: Self Love With Brad Yates

Doing this interview was particularly special to me. My guest Brad Yates was the person who first introduced me to Tapping/EFT. In this spirited conversation we talk about the importance of self-love, the obstacles to loving ourself, and what we can do with tapping to improve our view of ourselves.

I know we talk a lot about self love and self acceptance when it comes to tapping. It is right there in the set up phrase, “I love and accept myself.” Even with that being the case it is still one of the issues for my clients (and to be honest for myself) that we struggle with most and it is the topic we are least likely to tap for.
