Our romantic relationships take up a great deal of our time and energy. They can bring us great joy and great frustration (and even both at that exact same time). Even though each relationship is a new and different experience we can find ourselves falling in to the same patterns. Some patterns repeat themselves from relationship to relationship. Other patterns keep repeating themselves over and over again inside of the current relationship.

In this interview with Alina Frank we talk about how we can identify these patters and how they were created. We also spend time looking at how we can use tapping/EFT to clear the negative patterns in our current relationships and clear the patterns of having the same type of negative relationship experience again and again.

This is what I believe about the healing process. This is not about tapping the tool, but what happens when we heal and transform. This is how I think when I am working with clients.

What You Will Learn In "Recovering Self - A Healing Manifesto":

Why you stop the healing process even when you know the steps you should take

Why others don't want you to heal

The two categories that all healing falls into

What you need to know (and what you don't need to know) to heal

How to stop fighting yourself and start healing

The history of business is a history about how companies and organizations can be more efficient. Much of this work is about how companies and organizations can create an environment where they can get their employees to be more productive. For most of history this has been about automating processes, educating employees, and learning how to empower employees to make better choice.

Today, forward thinking companies like Google and Zappos are starting to look beyond people as cogs in the machine that fill specific tasks, but starting to see them as whole people. When companies feed and support the whole person they are finding their employees are happier, healthier, and more productive.

Regardless if you work for someone else, if you employ people, or don't work in a traditional job the lessons about emotional intelligence that these companies are learning can be applied directly to your daily life. In this interview I talk to Paul Zeilzer about what he has learned by visiting companies like Google and Zappos and how they can applied to our daily lives to increase our success.

Many of the practitioners I know are very spiritual people, but for one reason or another they are not connected to a particular denomination or faith tradition. My friend Jake Khym is a different in that regard. He explicitly does Christian counseling.

In this conversation we talk about how and why he transitioned from traditional counseling to Christian counseling and how his work now looks different. Also, we spend a great deal of time talking about what it means to provide instruction and teaching in a discipleship relationship vs. what a therapist would normally do.

Even if you are not Christian you are going to find this to be a fascinating conversation. Jake is one of the brights and most articulate people I know. His insights in to how people transform and what people are longing for are insightful and will help you with your healing journey regardless how you approach spiritually, faith, or religion.

It is obviously that having goals are important (multiple studies have proven this), but goals have their limits. If we become to transfixed on the goal with can miss other greatness. If we only focus on the goal itself we can lose our passion. To me there is something much more important than the goal.

(I will share the other tool in a future podcast.)

The tool "About, To, and As If" is a great way to deal with emotions around any relationship. The tool can be used for close friends and family or with people you have never met before. It can be used for people you have a contentious relationship with and it can be used with people who you want a better life for. At least once a week as I explaining the work I do and how much I love tapping someone will start to look at me like I have three heads and slowly start creeping away.

In any endeavor that we do it is important to have a community of support around us. In these communities we have the opportunity to learn from each other, support each other, and (most importantly) laugh with each other.

In the Baltimore area (which is where I live) Steve Carter has done an amazing job in creating just this type of community. The community he has created is from everyone from full time practitioners to people who are just interested in finding way the live health and happier lives. It started very small and over the last few years has not only grown in numbers, but it has also in the quality of support the community provides.

My guest Brad Yates was the person who first introduced me to Tapping/EFT. In this spirited conversation we talk about the importance of self-love, the obstacles to loving ourself, and what we can do with tapping to improve our view of ourselves.

I know we talk a lot about self love and self acceptance when it comes to tapping. It is right there in the set up phrase, "I love and accept myself." Even with that being the case it is still one of the issues for my clients (and to be honest for myself) that we struggle with most and it is the topic we are least likely to tap for.

In this podcast we talk about how important it is to just open the door a small crack to the healing process and how that can make all the difference in the world. Sometimes it just takes a small change to create radically different outcomes. We also spend time doing a little tapping for the feeling of overwhelm that comes with knowing we have lot of healing we want and need to do.

This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy." Jerry Seinfeld

Fear of public speaking can effect not only large moments when we speak in front of a group of people, but also in the small moments like asking for help at a store. This is how I originally found my way to tapping. I could speak in front of 8,000 people but couldn't ask for help in a store. In this interview I talk with Janet Hilts on how we can use Tapping/EFT for many different aspects of public speaking. We discuss how sometimes the issue isn't the speaking itself but aspects that touch speaking. We talk about a very simple approach that you use to start tapping for your public speaking fears right away.

I first heard Jesse interviewed by Dan Benjamin on the show "The Pipeline" which is business show. Dan was interviewing Jesse about the tea house that he runs in San Francisco. What caught my attention was the last five minutes of the interview in which he started to talk about the power of ritual in how he has created work that he loves and a life that feeds him.

In this interview we spend a little time talking about how moved for being a techie to created a space where people could relax, be at peace, and make real connections with other. The bulk of the interview is spent talking about this idea of ritual. We talk about the power of ritual, how it can ground us, and how we can add a daily ritual to our life.

When I approached my friend and fellow practitioner Rob Sherwin about what topic he wanted to talk about in a podcast interview he recommended a conversation about self-compassion. At the time of the interview I was completely unfamiliar with the word. Self-compassion is in stark contrast to self-esteem. It is very much about seeing yourself the same way you see others. Often we are able to understand when others fail and we are supportive, but when we fail we are very hard on ourselves. Self-compassion is about be able to extend that say time of love and understanding towards ourselves.

In this interview we talk more in-depth about what self-compassion is and practical ways in which we can incorporate it into our daily lives and our daily tapping.

I was recently working with a client on using Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT)/tapping to help him to go after some major goals in his life. There wasn't a particular issue that needed to be addressed, but instead he was looking for a way to set himself up to go after his goals. We did just a few minutes of tapping. When we were done he felt at peace and was ready to go after his goals for the day (and his long goals). Right as we finished the tapping he said, "You need to share this as one of your bonus podcasts," so here it is. This is less than 7 minutes long, but it is good stuff. I hope it helps you to get after your goals today as well.

I asked her if she would be willing to be interviewed for the podcast and she was a little bit hesitant. She is very good at doing interviews, but being interviewed isn't something she is use to.

Over the course of the conversation we talk about how to do a do interview and how to do a good job when being interviewed. Forgiveness is one of the steps of moving from reliving to remembering.

In this show we will explore the power of forgiveness and how we can us tapping to make forgiveness of others and ourselves an important part of our transformation.

Because of the nature of the modern world we have lost touch with our physical bodies. Most of us are not working the land, in tune with the seasons, or using our bodies for work. Just watch someone who is on-line. It looks as if they have left their bodies.

It is very easy (and healthy) to reconnect with our physical bodies. Here is a great FREE tap along to find yourself reconnected with your body. Take a few moments at the beginning or ending of each day to tap along to this.

Our ability to be successful with any task is not just dependent on our skill set, but also our mental mind frame before, during, and after we are taking action. This mind frame cannot only impact our ability but also how we learn new tasks and improve our skill. In this podcast I talk Jared Tendler. Jared work with golfers and poker players around their mindset and mental game. Both of these games are great look at how we are impacted by mindset because of the immediate feedback we get from each choice. In this interview Jared talks about many different ways in which we can look at our mental makeup and how it relates to choice. The experienced tapper will see right away how to combine these mindset approaches with our Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT)/tapping.

I have been amazing and touched by the growth of Tapping/EFT Q and A. It all started with a free blog, an e-mail to a hundred people, and a hope to make Tapping/EFT a little easier to understand. Now there are weeks where I spend as much as 20 hour a week just on content for the site and I have made connections with amazing people all over the world.

Because of all the new people we are reading the newsletter and visiting the site I figured it was time to do my every six months (re)introduce of the current mission and purpose of Tapping/EFT Q and A. Also always, if you have any questions about this (or anything else) <a http://tapingqanda.com>please let me know.

There are some very specific implementations of surrogate tapping (like the work I do with autistic children). But it is not as simple as tapping to change the choices of someone else. We can't tap to change someone else free will, but we can tap to create an environment where we give others a chance to make new and different choices.
Writing a description of an interview with Rick Wilkes is always a difficult task. On the surface there is the topic at hand for the interview, but when we are chatting things move more much far afield into deep issues of healing and well-being than just the topic at hand. In this interview we talk about the spectrum from feeling completely and irrationally unsafe to complete and total inanition. Anytime there is resistance to change it is really important to ask "Do we feel safe making this change?" In the interview we talk about a number of ways of framing this question to make is more accessible for every issue. In addition to talk about extreme fears and uncomfortable situation we talk about finding space that is safe to heal and what true healing means. This is not just about eliminating fear, but being in a space of feeling alive in every way.

One of the most difficult parts of tapping is trying to figure out what the root cause is the current emotions we are feeling. There are times when we have a guess of a past event might be that is associated with what is going on, but many times even when we have a guess we are not certain it is the right issue to work on. In this podcast Tania A. Prince explains part of the process she calls Deep State RePatterning which gives us access to information about a past event. Not only does the process give us access into the subconscious mind to find information it also allows us to do this safely and gives us an opportunity to do transformation work with that information.

In this podcast I share a bit of the science of what is going on when we feel both gratitude and poverty.
It is difficult for us to see the people we love suffer. Often we don't consider the consequences when we rush in to help. Our need to bring peace and comfort can over riders all other thoughts and consideration. This is not always the healthiest choice for our self in the short and/or long term.

Sometimes when we choose to help we do so by taking on the burden of our loved ones. Many times we can carry these burdens for years. Often we don't even realize this is case or we have taken on these burdens when we were very very young, having no memory of choose to takes these burdens on.

When the burdens of others have been a part of our lives for so long they feel like they are a part of us and we don't realize they are something that can be released.

It is one thing to know that it is possible for us to tap and find relief, but it something complete different to understand what is going on inside the body. When we understand what is going on in the brain and in the biochemistry of the body (and how this effects the way new cells are produced) it allows us to do two things. First, it can help us to tailor our tapping in such a fashion that we can get the most out of the tapping session because we can do it in a more effective way. Second, it helps us to understand the way the body changes so we can more clearly track our progress and maintain realistic expectations of how the healing process is going to unfold.

One of the most common questions I get about tapping (EvEFT/EFT) is "What do I do when I don't know what memories from the past are effecting my behavior or emotions today?" In this interview I talk to Rob Sherwin about a very cool protocol call Solution Focused Brief Therapy. In this protocol you don't have to worry about why you are the way you are, but instead it focuses on how to move to what you want. Personally, I find this to be a great approach because even when I don't know why things are the way they are I am going to know where I want to be or who I want to be. In this interview Rod lays out the basic steps of SFBT that can easily be added to any tapping routine.
