Recovering Self – A Healing Manifesto

Recovering Self: A Healing Manifesto By Gene Monterastelli

After months of work it is finally here: “Recovering Self: A Healing Manifesto”

A manifesto is nothing more than a statement of beliefs. This is what I believe about the healing process. This is not about tapping the tool, but what happens when we heal and transform. This is how I think when I am working with clients.

You can download the pdf or mp3 book for free here:

Hi Gene great reading, thanks so much for posting this, will certainly be passing it on. A couple of things, I teach and play Tai Chi, many students whom I’ve taught over the years really only see the postures, the fundamental work throughout the Taiji sequence lies within the transformations from one movement through to the next, it is these movements that give life and essence to the postures, anyone is able to place the student into the completed posture however the key lies in the transitional movements that transform each movement that flows through to the next and so on. I think your ideas are an inspiration to us all. I seek stillness within movement and reading your words help me to deepen and further understand my own applications of the sutle changes we could all do so well by becoming our own observers.
One other idea I like your words about weight release over weight loss, When I’m doing work I tend to like to use the words receive a nice easy deep breath in rather than taking a nice deep breath in, I feel if we take something it can also be taken away, as when we receive something it is a gift for us to cherish. In Traditional Chinese Medicine our life force ( Qi ) is not only received from the earth ( Through the nourishment of food and water ) but also from heaven through the breath. Just some food for thought.
Cheers and once again a big thanks to you for this post and what it is you make freely available to us all.
    Aaran

    Aaron,

I really like the idea of receiving breath.

Also, I got the phrase weight release from my friend Catherine Poole.

Thanks so much for putting this out there for everyone. I would correct the spelling on the cover just so your message stays on focus. Thanks

  6. Gene Monterasetlli Thursday - 21 / 10 / 2010

If I had a dime for every time I have misspelled the word recovering in the is process….thanks for the catch. Updating it now!

  7. GenieGems Thursday - 21 / 10 / 2010

LOL @ spelling. (All I need is a nickle Gene.)

Thanks for this wonderful resource! (Listening to it now.) I’ve always enjoyed your perspective and have downloaded it for continued listening over and over.

I loved this resource! I learned alot! I am always trying to figure out “Why?” things have happened in my life; why did I create this? It has been hard to understand and confusing, but now it makes more sense to me to look at the situation that has been created and what responsibility I have for how I deal with it; the opportunity for growth. Thanks!! I also liked the explanation of either living in the past or fear of the future and how that effects us emotionally and can hold us back. Now is when I need to focus on “Why?” I feel this way and what is my system telling me. Thanks again for this gift and the other gifts you give to people for free! They have been so helpful.

  9. Andrea Friday - 22 / 10 / 2010

Gene, thank you for this ressource which helped me to continue with EFT. It adds a different perspective. Especially when things are o.k. it is harder for me to keep going.

Aaron – I like the picture of receiving breath.

    Hello Gene,

I recently read your Manifesto and liked it immensely.

I recognize many things that I also teach and have posted on Youtube and elsewhere and recognize that it must be “in the air” just as the “invention of the telephone” and electricity were “in the air” when they were discovered simultaneously in different parts of the world.

What I think you did best was put it all together into a single work that works. Congratulations!!! It must have taken quite some time to put it into a cohesive Manafesto. I liked it immensely and will share it with others as you requested. I think it will benefit a lot of people and I’m impressed that you wrote it at such an early stage of your life. It took me a lot longer to learn all or most of what you wrote, but I never put it all together into a single document. I’m glad you did. It makes it more cohesive and comprehensible for others to gleen the truth from it.

All in all a great job.
    Blessings,
    Ted

  11. Rain Thursday - 04 / 11 / 2010

    Hi Gene,
Thank you for the book shared, for the wisdom and for the love and care sent with every word! I am looking today for a very first time at this website and read the book at one go! I am going to post something about the context in which I put the ideas… For the last five years I am going through a very painful period of transformation looking for reconnection with love, reconnection in my marriage and with my husband. I fully understand each of your thoughts about it is not easy, not an one-moment miracle, something we often resist and feel scared of it, it is true that it is a mad rambling between the guilt and sadness for the past issues and anxiety and truble for the future… My tools? Initially it was just chaotic mixture of trying to meditate on issues, reading and thinking, learning more and more about positive and active communication, writing – it was more objective way to handle the situation. Then started something new with a little voice inside repeting “You should think on an energy level…” … I had no idea what is this about, but synchronicity started to push me more and more obviously and I started understanding what this means through chi kung, energy medicine, energy psychology, meeting a very experienced and psychologically orientated astrologist, EFT then, WHEE then, guided regression, family constellations then… All this just came in my life. It is great, I know I did a great job but it all happend too fast may be, in just 12 months or so, and it seems I couldn’t manage to keep balance… I am in a deadlock right now after so long time of feeling loveless and desparately motivated to change – just as you wrote. Everyhting I learned and practiced just brought me to the last 3 months I am going from one physical sickness to another, going deeper and deeper in my body, already 3 weeks struggling with pneumonia and in addition to the depressive mood grieving hardly for the last 10 days about the sudden and shocking loss of something that was of a great value for me and for the family for almost 60 years… I believe that I have opened all my doors, all my boxes that I know and that presume to be there… I have a meta-positive of course, knowing all these great energy tools and being able to use them to handle every situation, I even teach my daughter, family and friends to do this, but all I feel is that I grow numb more and more… May be I need a break of just being numb for a while just to know what is to feel numb at all? But at the same time I feel that this is not only my own energy that blocks me at the moment. Please, don’t understand me wrong – I am taking fully the responsibility on me, but there is this feeling… Do you think it is possible or is just an excuse? It was only your book that made me to sit here and to write it down, to say thanks for having this PC, net, sources, having a good level of English and being able to read and to share this, having enough time at the moment –so, thank you once again and best wishes, Gene!

  12. Helena Thursday - 24 / 03 / 2011

Thank You! much appreciated, I read it over lunch break today and feel very encouraged and grateful.

(some of the spelling errors must have escaped your spell-checker/grammar checker), not really important as the content is fabulous.

    thanks again!
    Helena

  13. Susan Vos Thursday - 14 / 04 / 2011

Your manifesto is awesome – and will be a such wonderful resource for me to share with others in my own work. It really is a masterpiece with so much substance and truth.

Just two things spring to mind right now. One is that we are all “work in progress” (WIP!!!), and it is not a case having arrived at a point where there is no more “work” to be done. As human beings we are continually changing and growing, and the possibilities for growth, change and transformation never end and it is also never too late to begin.

The second is cultivating an attitude of gratitude which you speak of in such a beautiful way. This is what I have shared with others:

    THE PATH OF GRATITUDE

“Expressing thankfulness for the gifts of life and cultivating an attitude of gratitude is one of the most powerful ways in which we can change our experience of living.

It raises our vibration, bringing us into alignment with our true nature, the eternal self – that part of us which exists beyond the realm of the physical. The eternal self expresses gratitude for all that life brings – for life in itself is a gift.

We begin to observe the world anew, with a freshness and aliveness, noticing the wonders of nature, from the song of a bird, to the delicacy of a new leaf, the beauty of a sunset to the gentle rustling of leaves in the wind.

It leads to a new way of being in the world, creating the richest possibilities for existence.”

With grateful thanks and many blessings,
    Sue

    Hi Gene!
First of all I want to congratulate, the website is much better right now!
And I would like to say thank you for the “Healing Manifesto”, it’s amazing! To be frank I found it one of the best text about healing/EFT which I alread saw! It’s clear, and I had a lot of insights when I was reading. I believe that is the most important in EFT: how you can discover your own way. An it was really helpful!
    Blessed Be!
    Fernanda

  15. Diane Friday - 29 / 07 / 2011

Thanks for writing the Manifesto and for putting it out there for all of us who want to receive it. You have such a great way of making things really clear. I took brief notes while I was reading it, so I can go back quickly and get the main points. One of the major points for me was that healing can’t happen in a state of poverty (poverty is the opposite of gratitude). Another is that all we need to aim for is doing one small thing at a time for lasting transformation. There is so much more there that I will absorb a little at a time. Thanks, Gene, for being so giving of yourself to help others.

  16. Christine Wednesday - 23 / 11 / 2011

I don’t really have anything to say about the content… (at least at this time *smile*) but I did want to say how much I enjoyed reading it.

I liked the conversational style…that it was actual content and not trying to sell me stuff…that it’s honest and you come off as wonder of wonders a real person LOL, and not a know-it-all. :)

Very grateful to you for sharing this manifesto. It brought together a lot of information and beliefs I had in a very succinct way. Thank you.
