Pod #38: EFT/Tapping, Religious Traditions, and Spiritual Practice

One of the conversation I have most often around Emotional Freedom Techniques(EFT)/tapping is how do it relate to religious traditions and spiritual practice. The questions range from is it okay to tap based on my religion/belief system to can tapping help my spiritual practice. I was interviewed by TapFest host Jondi Whitis and Co-Host Lillian Fimbres on EFT Radio. Here is our complete conversation.

Thank you Gene, Jondi and Lillian, a lovely and thoughtful discussion about the true meaning of God – it is the love and positive energy which is available to all of us, as said during the discussion – our task is to get out of the way and surrender to this aspect of our essence. I found your explanation of the meaning of surrender in this context very helpful Gene

As it was referred to, I would like to contribute to the discussion in putting forward the view that the business of formal religions in many ways actually gets in the way of achieving this spiritual goal.

As large multinational businesses, each formal religion appears to need to be telling its customers and potential customers, that its take on the presence of God (its product) is better than others. It also suggests that access to the real presence of God is only going to be achieved by following its particular rule book. This ‘club’ or ‘turf’ attitude allows members of these businesses to claim that the presence of God is with them and against those that belong to the other clubs, thus they are able to justify some of their actions – whether it be covering up for child abuse for the wider good of the organisation, the last US president talking about a ‘crusade’ to justify bombing innocent family homes, or twisted people thinking that killing innocent mothers, fathers, daughters and sons in 9/11 was supported by the presence of God.

For me the presence of God, the energy that gets me up in the morning, keeps my heart beating, and is willing to provide me with love and nourishment once I get myself out the way, is there for the taking. The great prophets of the past had extremely important thoughts for us, unfortunately they are not here now to tell us what they really meant, and some human beings have built successful businesses by claiming to know how to interpret their thoughts in the only way that is right.
Chi Jung (not sure if I have the right spelling) that was mentioned, is one practice that I have a little knowledge of that really does show us the energy and presence that is actually already available in us, if only we could learn to get out of the way! In my experience, you have to work to prevent it from making its presence known. This energy source is also what makes EFT so successful and beautiful – the tapping allows us to engage the power of the presence of God that is in us, in a very simple yet powerful way. So my healing journey goes on, it’s a great journey and I take responsibility for my slow progress on that.

Thanks once again for sharing your discussion with us. It has certainly helped me.
    Love Amer xxx

  • Web Hosting: HostMonster (aff) A very inexpensive and reliable hosting company. I house 11 domains for under $6 a month. Great 24hr support!

  • Blog Theme: I use the ThemeFuse (aff) “LifeStyle” theme. When I switched to this theme I had lots of readers comment on how much better it looks and my web traffic improved. Max, who runs the support forum for this theme, is a rockstar!

  • Newsletter: Aweber (aff) is the gold standard when it comes to email newsletter. Easy to use, very powerful, and great phone and chat room support.

  • WordPress Ninja: I have done lots of things to tweak the wordpress theme on this site. Well…really Bryan Murdaugh has done the tweaks I wanted. If you are looking to just add something to your site or you need someone to help you start from scratch Bryan is the guy. Smart, funny, and a quick worker.

  • Content: Most of the content on this site is fueled by hot and cold beverages from local coffee shops. You can help provide Gene with some of that fuel.
